2009 Awards Programme
Brief
The Banksia Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that purposes to achieve a sustainable Australia. It does this by recognising and rewarding environmental excellence, promoting best practice principles and contributing to action-learning and education.
The design of the 2009 Awards programme aligned with the Banksia brand, and positions the Foundation as an innovative and creditable leader. The Awards Programme was to be clear, engaging and inform - a varied audience, while being conscious of a modest budget.
Outcome / Development
A series of illustrations, influenced by a theme of "renewal" were developed to form the visual language of the catalogue. Organic shape and line work were derived directly from the natural environment and produced using lead pencil and copic markers to create an irregular rhythm of colour.
The fluid nature of the illustration style was complemented with a simple layout and type hierarchy for an information-heavy document. A punch of Warm Red and the variation in colour of paper stocks, demonstrate unabashed optimism and vitality and the organisation’s contemporary philosophy.
The program was printed on environmentally-friendly paper stocks by Finsbury Green, Australia’s acknowledged leader in environmental printing practice.
